The Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today (6th) that based on the "Implementation Plan of Emergency Evacuation for the Military and Civilian Personnel on Outlying Islands as Supported by the Armed Forces", it will review the appropriate strength of troops as its supports the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) to carry out transportation tasks to outlying islands and areas. Nonetheless, the prerequisite is that such efforts must not affect combat readiness or training missions, nor create any competition to the civil aviation industry for profits.
The MND explained that working in conjunction with the Chinese New Year transportation schedule of the MOTC, it has planned to dispatch two C-130 transport aircraft from the Air Force between February 7 to 15 daily to serve as a standby to support the transportation operations and assist officers, soldiers, and the general public when returning home for the holidays.
